Evacuation Registry

PREPARE

Evacuation Planning Solutions
from VisionLink include Registry tools for Evacuation, Special Needs, and Transportation support. All can be integrated with 2-1-1 and 3-1-1 call centers.

In times of emergency or disaster, those with special medical needs and those with disabilities are particularly vulnerable. And those who cannot self-evacuate raise consequential issues for themselves, their families, emergency responders, and the communities in which they reside.

As many as 18 percent of the U.S. population has some level of disability, and approximately 11 million people ages 6 and older need assistance with an everyday activity. Among those 15 and older, nearly 12 million use a wheelchair or ambulatory aid such as a walker. (US Census Bureau). Resources can be made available to assist those in need during an emergency or disaster, but unless those individuals are identified in advance, it is nearly impossible to locate and assist individuals as an evacuation order is put into effect.

VisionLink is addressing this need on two fronts. First, through the United Way of America who has launched a Registry Pilot Project through their work with 2-1-1 call centers across the United States. Second, VisionLink is working with individual communities to address their immediate needs with an extraordinarily flexible, responsive, inexpensive, and reliable solution.
