Customers Cooksey and Sides Receive Statewide Recognition at Texas AIRS Conference

Boulder, Colorado -- May 22, 2008 Texas residents have relied on 2-1-1 Texas, A Call for Help, for assistance in times of need. United Way of Abilene staff members Mary Cooksey and Mary Anne Sides diligently assist callers with guidance and resources. Sides and Cooksey received statewide recognition at the recent Texas Area Information and Referral Systems Conference (TAIRS) in Houston. With their involvement and diligence, the Abilene office and the 19-county West Central Texas area it serves, has one of the leading 2-1-1 Texas, A Call for Help centers in Texas.

Sides, Lead Information and Referral Specialist and Case Manager, received the Texas Information and Referral Specialist Award for outstanding individual contributions to the Information and Referral (I&R) field.

Cooksey, Director of Abilene's Community Resource Center, was awarded the 2008 Clare Rothmeyer Award for her outstanding support for the field of I&R services during the past year. This award was established in honor of Clare Rothmeyer who played a major role in the development of the 2-1-1 system in Texas.

The 2-1-1 Texas, A Call for Help center in Abilene relies on VisionLink's Tapestry software to support I&R with client intake and referral, call management, reporting, and resource directories designed to hold detailed descriptions of the programs and services provided by community, social, health, and government organizations.
