Work With MSROs

Overview

The scarcity of basic medical supplies in developing nations is simply heart-wrenching. We are helping to build systems and standards for the donation of surplus medical supplies so that hospitals can provide care effectively and more serviceable medical equipment can be delivered to clinics of highest need around the world. VisionLink is working with MedSurplus Alliance to solve this crisis.

  • Coordinate Care

This is work that must be done together. Networks of Medical Surplus Recovery Organizations (MSROs) are already improving the outcomes of millions of people by coordinating with local governments, but too often communication breaks down. Sustainable growth and partnerships require a clear, unified standard for the work of MSROs.

  • Maximize Resources

We need to ensure that donated medical supplies are going to the regions that need them most. Coordinating the work of MSROs means collecting lifesaving information about which donations must go where. Without this database, well-meaning donations can create secondary problems by diverting already limited resources.

  • Measure Impact

Effective work requires good feedback. By analyzing what’s working and what is not, we can improve the system to send surplus medical supplies to the places where they have the greatest impact. Large-scale data entry and geospatial mapping are important tools to connect donated medical supplies with the right patients.

  • Engage Partners

This is only the beginning of a larger movement. As the network of donated medical supplies grows, more partners will be able to coordinate their efforts, ensuring that the millions of people in desperate need of aid are helped by hospitals and clinics around the world. Working together, we can save lives. Visit www.medsurplusalliance.com to learn more.
